Kailua, Hawaii - Keiki O Ka Aina hosted a Christmas in January for the inmates of the Kailua's Women's Community Correctional Center and their keiki. Originally scheduled for December and rescheduled due to bad weather, the 'Kids Day' invites the children of incarcerated parents to spend a day of theme based fun and activities with their mothers.
Along with staff to work the event, Keiki O Ka Aina provides the crafts, games, activities, and gifts that are used during the event. The mothers are able to spend quality time with their keiki and have fun with the games and activities. A super lunch of burgers, hot dogs, fresh french fries, and handmade cookies are provided by the Correctional facility for everyone that attends.
Santa Claus also made a special January trip to visit the incarcerated mothers and their children. As usual, he comes bearing many gifts for everyone. Fake snow also brought out the kid in everyone when the snow gets thrown around like the real thing.
Bags to carry the gifts and prizes in were donated by Oakley.
Keiki O Ka Aina sponsors these Kids Day events 2-3 time a year at the correctional facility. Keiki O Ka Aina also provides portrait photos to make personalized calendars and keepsakes of the mother and children together.
