SFAI Program Coordinator
Memory Ku - Coordinator for Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents, Facilitator/Coordinator for the Supporting Parents as First Teachers (SPAFT) Workshops, and Teacher for the Supporting Keiki of Incarcerated Parents (SKIP) parent-child interactive programs. Memory oversees and coordinates events, workshops and parent-child interactive programs at the Waiawa Correctional Facility and Women's Community Correctional Center. She also trains and match volunteer mentors with children who have a parent incarcerated and coordinates monthly events.

Memory has an Associates of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and is a trainer of the Supporting Parents as First Teachers Curriculum.


Wendy Pitner
Publications and Special Events Coordinator
Wendy is responsible for putting together our flyers, brochures, books and curriculum, as well as fund raising and special events, such as End of the Year Celebrations and other parties. Wendy has worked for KOKA for six years in various capacities, from HIPPY Parent Educator, HIPPY Coordinator to her current position. Wendy is a master certified Microsoft Office Specialist.
Carla Hostetter
Research and Evaluation Director
Carla is currently taking over the responsibilities of all aspects of research within Keiki O Ka ‘ Āina's programs. She will be defining appropriate research methodology and specific assessments in order to insure that all program objectives are met and all goals are reached.

Carla has a B.A. with a triple major in Sociology, Anthropology and Art History. She also has completed two M.A.s in Pacific Island Studies and Pacific Island Art History at the University of Hawai'i, Manoa campus. In addition she has had many years of experience working on social research projects for non-profit organizations. Carla is working under the advisement of Earl S. Hishinuma, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Vice Chair of Research, Department of Psychiatry, John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawai'i.

Cleda April Kalama
Technology Project Coordinator
Cleda April Kalama is the Technology Project Coordinator for Keiki O Ka ‘ Āina's new on-line data management (ODM) system. She is responsible for working with an in-house team of program and technology specialists to implement the new ODM. The ODM is mission driven and will provide us with immediate access to relevant data concerning KOKA-FLC clients and client services. April has earned her CDA, a B.A. in Communications, and a M.Ed. in Special Education, and has previous experience in computer related technologies.

Jenna Umiamaka
HIPPY and Healthy Marriages Director
Jenna Umiamaka Jenna Umiamaka is responsible for bringing together and disseminating needed information, available resources, programs, and services in all communities that our organization serves. As a part of her responsibilities, Jenna travels to local communities and sets up collaborations with agencies, communities, and educational units. Jenna has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Hawai'i, and served as a teacher and student service coordinator at Salt Lake Elementary School.

Kathy Bentley
Parent Educator
Kathy Bentley Parent Educator Kathy Bentley is a nationally recognized Parent Educator and the owner of Kathy's Parenting Solutions. She has her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and her Masters in Counseling Services. She is an annual presenter at the Hawaii Association for the Education of Young Children and the Hawaii Baptist Early Education Association Conferences. She has presented at the Native Hawaiian Education Association Conference, Hawaii State Child Abuse Conferences, HAEYC's Leadership symposiums, the Hawaii Statewide Family summit, the Kamehameha Scholars Ho'ike, the Honolulu District PCNC staff development meeting, Pearl Harbor's Parent Academy and Schofield Barrack's Couples University. She presents workshops to preschools, elementary, middle and high schools, and other parent groups. She has appeared as a parenting expert on the Channel 2 Morning News, KITV 4 News This Morning, The Privilege of Parenting radio show and as a guest on Town Square on Hawaii Public Radio. She has written articles for Hawaii Parent Magazine.

In 2004 Kathy was selected as one of the 12 Outstanding Parent Educators in North America by Parenting Press.

Kathy is a member of the Kaneohe Community Family Center Advisory Board and the Waianae Neighborhood Place Advisory Board.

Kathy is a member of the National Parenting Education Network and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

James Garrett
Technical Support
James provides technical support services that encompass the Keiki O Ka ‘ Āina network of laptops, desktop PC systems and network servers.

James also oversees the Keiki O Ka ‘ Āina website, keikiokaaina.org and provides design, programming, and photographic support for the site.
